The Charlottesville Waldorf School will hold our 35th Annual Holiday Bazaar on Friday and Saturday, December 6 & 7, 2019. Our campus will fill with the faces of friends, both familiar and new, who are drawn to the Bazaar for children’s activities, delicious food and treats, and the best of local artisans and vendors.
Friday Preview Night
Visit the vendors’ stalls in the CWS Pavilion the evening before the Bazaar. Enjoy complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres. Jump at this chance to shop without the crowds while spending time with other parents and friends. Join us on Friday, December 6th from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm (Please note that this is an adults-only event).
The Secret Garden: a venue for our youngest shoppers. Children adore making their own purchases in a beautifully designed shop that is just for them. The stock includes many handmade treats and treasures from the natural world. Items are $2 each and may be purchased with Bazaar tickets. Middle school students and parent “gnomes” assist children as they shop.
The CWS School Store: One of the highlights of the Holiday Bazaar, this is the premier local destination for otherwise hard-to-find Waldorf-friendly books, toys, art supplies, and home décor.
Artisans & Vendors: Wrap up your holiday shopping at the Bazaar. Shop a variety of unique and mostly handmade goods, including high-quality knitwear, exquisite jewelry, handsome woodwork, sweet honey, charming felted animals, beautiful glass ornaments, and other treasures from around the globe. Vendors include alumni and alumni parents.
Families can participate together in a wide range of wholesome and fun children’s activities including cookie decorating, leather stamping, candle-holder decorating, beeswax candle dipping, wreath & centerpiece-making from natural materials, and jump-rope making.
Puppet Shows: The Early Childhood faculty and staff will offer traditional marionette puppet shows featuring handmade puppets, a beautiful set, and a special story. This year’s production is “The Empty Pot,” a Chinese Folk Tale. All puppetry performances will take place in the CWS library.
